Alex Carr, a dedicated resident of Staten Island, N.Y., developed a profound love for animals and the natural world from a young age, igniting a lifelong commitment. At fifteen, he began volunteering at the Staten Island Zoo and later pursued higher education at John Jay College. Returning to his roots, Alex devoted twenty-eight years to the zoo, serving as a union shop steward.
Alex's unwavering dedication to his community is evident through his active involvement in Staten Island's politics and philanthropic endeavors. He advocates for wildlife conservation during his travels, including African safaris, and consistently seeks opportunities to contribute positively to society.
Alex holds positions on the boards of the Pride Center Of Staten Island and the Foundation Board of Staten Island University Hospital Northwell Health. These roles enable him to shape the future of his community and ensure equitable care and support for all.
Alex finds immense joy in the companionship of their cherished Miniature Schnauzers, Max and Ollie. Their presence enriches a life dedicated to selfless service and boundless love for others.
